Skyfall

By Lily Johnson

Hailed as the best collaborative work between director, Sam Mendes, and lead actor, Daniel Craig, Skyfall is one of the most noteworthy movies in the James Bond franchise. The narrative puts a twist on the typical James Bond film, straying from the tried and true “cars and gadgets” format. It instead centers around change and renewal, with both MI6 and Bond himself. At beginning of the film, Bond is presumed dead. When he returns, Bond has to struggles through a series of trials to prove his ability and be restored to active duty. He must overcome his weaknesses in order to become the Bond seen in prior movies. This ubiquitous theme mixed with the well paced character development and stunning visuals, Skyfall makes for a refreshing experience to Britain’s well loved spy series.
