Star Wars: the Empire Strikes Back

As the fifth episode in the franchise, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back remains one of the most iconic and well structured elements of pop culture, despite the passage of time. The three main characters of the movie Luke, Leia, and Han, each undergo journeys that put them in situations where they can constantly develop. Luke has a spiritual journey, where he struggles with the Force and his own mental roadblocks, whereas Han and Leia have a physical journey, where they escape from the Empire.

Crazy Rich Asians

The iconic and thought provoking, Crazy Rich Asians, is finally in theaters now. The name by itself seems attention grabbing, consumer wanting, and also extremely out of the ordinary. This movie is the first ever film that casted all Asian actors. Typical Asian roles in movies have been partaken by masters of martial arts or extremely smart scientists; however, this film goes beyond expected and shifts the viewpoint from martial arts to a luxurious lifestyle. Not only does this movie portray Asians in a different limelight, but it also encourages future movie directors to cast Asians for different roles.

Avengers: Infinity War (SPOILERS)

As the third Avengers movie, Infinity War was one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year, continuing the culminating superhero story and marking the tenth anniversary of Marvel Studios. With a formidable and complex antagonist, Infinity War is a lesson in futility for its characters. For example, the Avengers struggle to save Vision and remove the mind stone, but Scarlet Witch ends up having to kill him to destroy the stone. However, her effort is futile when Thanos turns back time to murder him again, taking the mind stone. Instances like these are littered throughout the entire movie; no matter what the characters do, they always lose.
