How can I get help/help others?

If you experience a majority of these symptoms mentioned on one or more of our mental illness pages on a daily basis, you may want to seek help by talking to your doctor or a mental health professional. However, if you feel like you experience some of these symptoms but they are not severe, you can refer to the resources below or to our self-care section of the website.
If you care about someone who suffers from a mental illness, it is common to wonder what you can do to support them. Try to learn about their disorders and be cognisant of their emotions and feelings. It is important that you make it clear to your friend, family member or loved one that you are there for them. You can offer encouragement, understanding, patience and emotional support. Be careful with your words and do not try to be their therapist. Recovery can take a short or very long time, but by being patient and sticking through the hardships with your loved one, you will hopefully make a difference in their lives.
